More movie reviews

Here is a list of films I have seen recently, and my attempt at reviewing them with minimal wastage of words as possible.

Night at the Museum- Mostly unfunny comedy which would be even lesser fun had it not been for Robin Williams -still that isn't saying much. So I am his fan , sue me.

Revolver- Guy Ritchie's yet another attempt at stylizing violent gangsters and what nots, ends in a confused frenzy which is more obtuse than needed. Pseudo-intellectual alert.

The Sentinel- Old fashioned action thriller, and even though the film wasn't amazing, it was good to watch something old school.

Firewall- Yet another old school thriller, and in some ways better than the sentinel.

Open Season- Yet another talking animals cartoon with even less humour, and quite possibly the worst voice acting done in ages.

Asault on Precinct 13- It's remake season, and this remake changes its skin from horror to action thriller-less thrills, more explosions and bad sound design results in something you would forget within 15 mts.

Smokin' Aces- The plot is interesting, the setting is great, but it falls flat in the last 20 mts. Note to director-dont try to pull the carpet out from under the audience with preposterous twist, when you have a wafer thin plot.

Hostel- Chain saws, boobies, flame throwers, boobies, knives, boobies-torture p0rn for the retarded.

Crank- This is less of a film and more of a look what we can do brochure. And now they are making a sequel...sigh

Days of thunder- Not a bad concept, but the fx sucks, and Sir Ben Kingsley's hairdo is just too freaky!

High Fidelity- A nice film. The bitchy personal rant/monologue makes an okay plot into an interesting film. Dark humour abound.

Seraphim Falls- Great camerawork, great actors. And a good old fashioned western. IF you can handle the weirdness at the end...it starts off brutally realistic... and then veers straight into the near supernatural. Deus Ex Machina plot device if there ever was one.

Next- You will be left feeling unsatisfied and cheated after watching this one. Seems more like the lengthy pilot of a mediocre sci fi serial than a movie.

Epic Movie- Okay. Think bad. Think unfunny. Make it a trillion times worse.

Die Hard 2- Yippee kay yay! Who kicks ass? Bruce 'John Mclane' Willis. Great one liners. Great plot. Kickass action like that only happened in the late 80s and90s. Aaah .....the good old days... Die Hard 3, here I come. Looking forward to Die Hard 4 this summer!
