Film reviews by a lazy man
Here is a concise review of a few films that I have seen recently...I am too lazy to waste more words on these films..anyway most of them dont warrant more investment...
Lord of War- Dark humour abound...good...
Matchstick Men- Nicholas Cage shines again...surprised by the ending...
The Emperor's New Groove- So so...
Weather Man- A very interesting film , talks on the same theme as American Beauty although definitely not as good.
Tom Yung Goong- Tony Jaa will go places , cant say the same for the director!
X-Men The Last Stand- Yuck
Fanaa- Blechh!
Shaun of the Dead- Confused director couldnt decide if it was a comedy or dead(excuse the pun) serious...watch and forget...or better yet watch the trailer and rest assured you have seen the good bits.
V for Vendetta- Hugo Weaving's amazing voice...other than that , quite pathetic compared to the novel. Its sad watching Alan Moore get cheated again.
In Good Company-Tries to steer clear from Hollywood stereotype, so kudos for that. This film has the most memorable songs I have heard in a film in a long long time.
Flightplan- Predictable last 25 minutes.
Red Eye- Like every other Wes Craven film...lame...
The Skeleton Key- Took me by surprise...i likey!
Domino- Keira Knightley cant act, even if it was to save her life!
Keeping Mum- Funny, doesnt aspire for much and delivers what it promises...i enjoyed it...
Dark Water- So so...Cant help but feel the Japanese original is probably better.
Serendipity- Okay.
Pom Poko- I loved it.
The Cave- Bleh
Brothers Grimm- Yuck(its hard watching Monica Bellucci perform career suicide) & more importantly, who can believe its a film made by Terry Gilliam?
Two for the Money- Even the great Al Pacino cant save this movie from mediocrity.
King Kong- (yes,I was bored enough to watch it)Hollywood Bible on how to make incoherent, boring, mindless crap with an endless budget.
Ultraviolet-Argh!Makes you want to tear your eyeballs out.The dialogues are probably crappier than in XXX.
Aeon Flux- Eeesh!
Exorcist:The Beginning- Could it BE worse?(Yes it could but this is pretty bad too)
Mulan- Old School Disney! Entertaining...
Layer Cake-Lean mean piece of film , two thumbs up!
Beavis & Butthead do America-It was probably very funny a decade ago...but South Park has made this duo obsolete.Still, worth a watch.
Twilight Samurai-Yoji Yamada's beautiful film.Beautiful narrative.Beautiful cinematography, and impressive acting. Story telling at its best.Undoubtedly the best film of this whole lot I reviewed here.I am so glad I own it on Dee Vee Dee!
Good Night & Good Luck- VERY GOOD! A whole film in just one set...impressive.David Strathairn shines.
Oh well....that about does it for now...if you feel different about my opinion of the films I mentioned here , you know what to do.
